A Place to MEET

The soaring lobby is the heart of the hotel and a great place to meet for a drink, a coffee, a chat or a game of checkers! The magazines are free to read (just don’t take them away with you) and the huge screen is always showing something interesting.

Take one of our bikes for a spin and explore the sights. There are bike paths everywhere and its an easy ride to Lake Burley Griffin and the many great attractions that line its shores. Or take a leisurely cruise to Manuka or Kingston for some shopping!

ACTION is the public bus service in Canberra. Bus stops are located around Kingston Square, directly across from the hotel entrance on Giles Street (for travel to Woden) and on Eyre Street (for travel to the City). For detailed information, including links to Google Maps Transit Trip Planner, visit action.act.gov.au or ask the East Experience Team at Reception.

Where is the nearest shopping center?

Three minutes’ walk north are the Kingston shops and three minutes south/west is Manuka Village.

Kingston shops have a bunch of restaurants and we recommend Silo Bakery for melt in your mouth pastries, Pomegranate Restaurant for Middle Eastern cuisine, Bollywood Masala for Indian & Portia’ Place for easy Chinese.  You will also find a bottle shop, a chemist, an IGA, a post office, a news agency and much more.

Manuka Village has your ever-faithful Coles to fill your apartment and cook til your heart’s content.  Manuka also has a cinema, a bakery, chemist, news agency, NAB and Commonwealth bank and a post office.  On the village green in the center of the shops you will find a bunch of great cafes and the famous ONA that has the world’s best barista!  Shops galore in Manuka, fashion, shoes & beautiful homewares.

How long does it take to get to the CBD?

10 minutes in a taxi or Uber.

EAST is one big happy family! Family owned, family operated and family focused. What other boutique hotel do you know that has designated kids rooms that is not on a tropical island resort? We built two ‘Kids Cubbies’ at EAST that interconnect with East Apartments to make the perfect family stay. Bunk beds, play tables, XBox games and kids mini bar – total kid heaven! And when you want to explore the local area, our bikes are free to cruise and we have sizes to suit all. Did we mention there are free lollies in the lobby and meter-long pizzas in Agostinis?

EAST was designed with art in mind. Gallery spaces in and around the lobby are filled with local artist’s works, bringing the lobby alive. We love supporting local artists… send your collection to stay@easthotel.com.au if you are interested in exhibiting with us.
